You want your foster child to feel comfortable in their room so it is important to understand if they want to spend time in their room, especially at first. If you are happy with food and drinks in the bedroom then you could leave a snack in their room for when they arrive, as they may too shy to ask for something to eat at first.
Preparation is key so get tidying and sorting so that the bedroom is ready and welcoming for when the child or young person arrives. Think about the age of your foster child and ensure that the bedroom is appropriate for them. For young children put some age appropriate toys in the room and for teenagers make sure the room doesn’t seem too young or childish for their age.
